Obit Paul Cormier Sr.Marlborough – Paul H. Cormier Sr., 83, of Marlborough, died Monday, Sept. 22, 2014 at Marlborough Hospital after a period of declining health.

Born in Worcester, he was the son of the late Henry D. and Marie Rita (Goulet) Cormier and the husband of the late MaryAnn (Ruby) Cormier. Mr. and Mrs. Cormier had been married for 59 years at the time of her death on May 23, 2014.

Mr. Cormier graduated from St. John’s High School, Worcester, in 1948 and enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1950, serving proudly until his discharge in 1954.

He had been employed for 22 years at Wonder Bread in Natick before working for the Postal Service as a letter carrier in Westborough. Following his retirement, he returned to work for Waltham Taxi as a driver for special needs students, retiring in 2006.

He had many hobbies and interests, but he excelled at golf, cribbage, bowling, and horse shoe pitching. Through the years, he was awarded numerous trophies for his abilities, but was most rewarded by beating his sons and sons-in-law at any of these activities.

He will be dearly missed by his children, Paul H.J. Cormier Jr. and his wife Janine of Orange, Leon J. Cormier and his fiancé Tracey Lee of Northborough, Jay D. Cormier and his wife Jane of Natick, Suzanne R. Gaudette and her husband Robert of Marlborough, and Cecile A. Atchue and her husband Edward of Marlborough; his brothers, Richard Cormier and his wife Andrea of Stow and Charles Cormier and his wife Ellen of Boynton Beach, Fla.; his sister, Lucille Cormier and her husband Bill Bruce of Fitchburg; his sister-in-law, Lorraine Cormier of Midland, Mi.; his grandchildren, Alexis, Jamie, Graham, Desiree, Elizabeth, Garrett, Nicholas, Joseph, Hannah, Catherine, Amy, Emelia, Kristin, and Alyssa; his great-grandchildren, Devin and Camilla-Ruby; and many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Roland and Donald Cormier.

Visiting hours will be held Sunday, Sept. 28, from 2-5 p.m., at the Slattery Funeral Home, 40 Pleasant St., Marlborough. A funeral mass will be celebrated Monday, Sept. 29 at 10 a.m., at St. Matthias Church, 409 Hemenway St., Marlborough. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Wilson Street, Marlborough.
