Westborough – John J. “Jack” Van Dam Sr., 59, of Westborough, passed away peacefully Thursday, Oct. 2, 2014 at home.

Born in Boston, he was the son of the late Alfred and Helen (Johnson) Van Dam, and was educated in Boston schools.

Jack operated the Central House in Westborough for over 35 years. He was a member of WASA, enjoyed coaching and playing softball, and loved all sports.

He is survived by two sons, John Van Dam Jr. and his wife Kendra of Worcester and Michael Van Dam of Westborough; one daughter, Linda Van Dam of Westborough; his former wife, Karen Gordon of Westborough; three brothers, Arie Van Dam and his wife Marie of Roslindale, Fred Van Dam and his wife Linda of Roslindale, and William Van Dam and his wife Anne of Westborough; one sister, Marilyn Ahlen and her husband Roy, of Millbury; two grandchildren, Sofia and Aaliyah; and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Norman Van Dam, George Van Dam, and Anne-Marie Flood.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours Sunday, Oct. 5, from 2-6 p.m., at the Rand-Harper-Pickering Westborough Funeral Home, 62 West Main St., Westborough. Services and interment will be private.
