Southborough – Joan Ann (Lynch) Barry, 83, of Southborough died peacefully in her home Saturday, Oct. 11, 2014, surrounded by her loving family, after an illness. Her husband, Llewelyn B. Barry, died in 1989.

She leaves her children, Stephen G. Balboni of Southborough and Susan Balboni and partner Fran Marranca of Redondo Beach, Ca.; her granddaughter, Elizabeth A. Balboni of Southborough; two sisters, Dorothy Leavitt of Taunton and Martha Cole of Kentucky; many nieces and nephews; and a close family friend, Kathleen Billingham of Northborough. She was predeceased by her first husband, Henry Balboni, who died in 1965. She was also predeceased by her two brothers, Martin and William Lynch, and two sisters, Virginia Miller and Mary Popoloski.

She was born in the Hyde Park section of Boston, the daughter of Martin and Mabel (Whittemore) Lynch. She graduated from Woburn High School.

Joan enjoyed an administrative career in the Framingham School System. At the age of 16 she was hired as a bank teller at First National Bank of Boston where she was eventually promoted as their first female loan officer.

Joan and her husband Lew traveled extensively throughout the world. It was one of their greatest joys in life. She reveled in her morning papers, dining out, and cruising the Seven Seas. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Joan’s funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, Oct. 15, at 10 a.m.,at St. Anne Church, 20 Boston Rd., Southborough. Burial will follow in Southborough Rural Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Tuesday, Oct. 14, from 4-7 p.m., at Morris Funeral Home, 40 Main St. (Route 30), Southborough.
