Obit Louise TomaioloShrewsbury – Louise Marguerite (Aspero) Tomaiolo, of Shrewsbury, died Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2014 at UMass Memorial Medical Center-Memorial Campus, Worcester. She was 97.

Born Aug. 11, 1917 in Worcester, she was a daughter of the late Francesco “Frank” and Maria (Silvestri) Aspero, who immigrated to the U.S. from Afragola, Naples, Italy in 1903. A graduate of Commerce High School, she married Dr. Pasquale P. “Pat” Tomaiolo Oct. 22, 1936.

She enjoyed extensive travels with her husband, and they lived in South Carolina during the time he served as a physician Captain in the U.S. Army (1951-53). They lived in Shrewsbury since 1953, where her husband was in private medical practice and was among the physicians who founded Doctors’ Hospital, Worcester.

Along with Dr. John P. DeCicco, Louise and her husband were co-founders of the 18-hole golf course Indian Meadows Country Club in Westborough.

Following her husband’s death Feb. 28, 1972, she lived for many years at their home in West Yarmouth, where she enjoyed many friends. She was an excellent cook throughout her life and always encouraged everyone to “come on, eat!” She and her husband enjoyed entertaining and annually hosted a huge gathering of family and friends for a gourmet quality Feast of the Seven Fishes on Christmas Eve, a tradition carried on by her children.

Louise is predeceased by her husband; grandsons Leonard F. Tomaiolo Jr. and Patrick A. Tomaiolo; and her siblings, brothers Umberto S. “Al,” Anthony A., Joseph A., and Paul J., and sisters Jovenina “Jennie” DaVersa, Filomena L. Carney, Amelia R. “Mil” Rogers, Margaret M. “Peg” Foss, and Eleanor D. DiMatteo. Her sister, Anna V. Tomaiolo of Williamstown, passed away earlier this year.

She leaves her three sons, Leonard F. “Lenny” Tomaiolo Sr. and his wife Amy A. (Palermo), Dr. Peter P. Tomaiolo and his wife Phyllis (Beaudry), and Francis P. “Frank” Tomaiolo and his wife June (Kelleher), all of Shrewsbury, and her grandchildren, Lucia O’Keefe and her husband James of Weston, Fla., Gina M. Litchfield and her husband Richard of Shrewsbury, Michael J. Tomaiolo of Worcester and his fiance Julia Duran, Dr. Alissa L. Tomaiolo-Lamoureux and her husband Michael of Lake Worth, Fla., Kara Tomaiolo and her husband Michael Reinke of Alexandria, Va., Laura E. Glynn and her husband Patrick, and Matthew F. Tomaiolo and his wife Robin, all of Shrewsbury. She is also survived by 16 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She also leaves her late grandson’s spouse, Wendy A. (Joseph) Tomaiolo, of Shrewsbury.

Family and friends will honor and remember Louise’s life by gathering Saturday Nov. 15 in Saint Mary’s Church, 640 Main St., Shrewsbury, where her funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
