Northborough winter parking ban begins Dec. 1

Northborough – The Northborough Police Department reminds residents of guidelines regarding winter season issues, including the town’s winter parking ban, requirements for clearing and treating sidewalks, and displacing snow into the street.

According to town codes, residents with property abutting a sidewalk must remove snow within six hours and, if the surface is slippery, treat it with sand or another appropriate substance. Residents are also prohibited from displacing snow from privately owned property onto a public way. Failure to follow these guidelines may result in a $50 fine.

In addition, the town’s winter parking ban is in effect from Dec. 1 to March 31. Residents are prohibited from parking on either side of any street in Northborough between the hours of 12 and 8 a.m. Cars may be towed and the owner may be subject to a $50 fine.
