Obit Victor W. MackiewiczMarlborough – Victor W. Mackiewicz, 86, of Marlborough, died Friday, Dec. 12, 2014, at Beaumont of Worcester after an illness. He was the husband of Barbara (Pazzanese) Mackiewicz, together for 25 years.

He was born in Lawrence and raised in Marlborough, the son of the late Joseph and Anna (Sauris) Mackiewicz. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and Korea, and later enlisted in the Coast Guard during Vietnam. He served his country on active duty and reserves from 1945 until 1988 when he was honorably discharged from the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve.

He was a patrolman for the City of Marlborough Police Department for 33 years, retiring in 1989.

Vic was a generous, kind man always willing to help others. He was dedicated to law enforcement and was a “good cop.” He was an avid downhill skier and swimmer, and loved sailing on Fort Meadow and Lake Boone with his family.

Besides his wife, Barbara, he leaves his sons, Peter A. Mackiewicz and Victor P. Mackiewicz, both of Grafton; a stepson, Frank Pazzanese of California; two stepdaughters, Susan Baccari of Medford and Jackie Baker of Florida; and many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by many siblings.

His funeral will be held Tuesday, Dec. 16, at 11:30 a.m., in the Fitzgerald & Collins Funeral Home. Burial with military honors will be private in Evergreen Cemetery, Wilson Street. Calling hours will be held Monday, Dec. 15, from 6-8 p.m., in the Fitzgerald & Collins Funeral Home, 378 Lincoln St., Marlborough.
