Marlborough – Lucille Y. (Boisvert) Cooney, 87, of Marlborough, died peacefully at her home Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2014. She was the wife of the late Bernard M. Cooney, who died in 1992.

Born in Lowell, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Clara (Despres) Boisvert. She graduated from high school in Lowell, later graduating from Lowell Hair Academy as a licensed hairdresser.

She worked for many years at Data Terminal Systems in Maynard and Ford Motor Company in Natick.

Lucy was an outgoing woman who cherished her family and friends; she was caring, generous and always put others before herself. She enjoyed dancing and bowling, and truly loved dogs. She was a volunteer for several area hospitals and the Girl Scouts, and was a member of Immaculate Conception Church.

She leaves behind her longtime companion, William Andrews of Marlborough; a son, Brian S. Cooney and his wife Suzanne of Bridgewater; two daughters, Sandi A. Salvucci of Marlborough and Sharon R. Cooney of Long Beach, Calif.; six grandsons and two granddaughters; four great-granddaughters; and a great-great-grandson. She was predeceased by her sister, Rita LeBlanc of Lowell.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, Dec. 20 at 11 a.m., in Immaculate Conception Church, Prospect Street. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Chelmsford. Calling hours will be held Friday, Dec. 19, from 6-8 p.m., in the Fitzgerald & Collins Funeral Home, 378 Lincoln St., Marlborough.
