Hudson – Margaret C. “Peggy” Gilroy, 86, died Thursday, Dec.18, 2014 in Worcester. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 51 years, James. J. Gilroy, who passed away in June 2009.

Mrs.Gilroy was born the seventh of 13 children in Baltimore, Md. to Hugh O’Conor Cross and Helen M. (Flanagan) Cross.

She is survived by her loving children, Molly McCoy and her husband Alex of Spring, Texas and their three daughters, Emily, Elyse, and Charlotte; Meg Amorati and her husband Lou of Worcester and their two daughters, Olivia and Cara; Nancy Gilroy of Bedford and her son Hugh; Jim Gilroy and his wife Donna of Covington, Ky. and their four children, Sam, Pete, and Cassie Lind and Emily and her husband Todd Paxton and their son Enzo. She is also survived by Mary Lou Wilreker of San Antonio, Texas; Helen Starr of Tucson, Ariz.; T. Raymond Cross of Annapolis, Md.; Patti and Gene Gilroy of Laurel, Md.; Margaret Cross of Annapolis, Md.; and Charlotte Cross of Baltimore, Md., and many nieces and nephews.

Peggy was an active member of St. Michael’s Church in Hudson for 49 years. She was an avid square dancer, a member of the Red Hats, and volunteered her time at Marlborough Hospital on the auxiliary.

In addition to being a great mom and homemaker, she worked as a school bus driver for special needs children and a secretary for Digital Equipment Corp until she retired in the late 1980s. She will be missed by many and gave as much love as she received.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, Dec. 30, at 9 a.m., in Saint Michael’s Church, 21 Manning St., Hudson. Burial will follow in the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery of Winchendon. Family and friends may attend calling hours Monday Dec. 29, from 5-8 p.m., at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, 50 Central St., Hudson.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to St. Michael’s Church, 20 High St., Hudson, MA 01749.
