Hudson – Jeanette M. (Brooks) Mathews, 81, of Hudson, died Sunday, Dec. 21, 2014, surrounded by her loving family, at Marlborough Hills Healthcare Center. She is survived by her beloved husband of 59 years, Roy E. Mathews of Hudson.

Jeanette was born in Coventry, Vt., daughter of the late Charles and Yvonne (Loamath) Brooks. She moved to Hudson along with her parents at age 7 and had resided in Hudson most of her life. She attended local schools and was a 1952 graduate of Saint Michael’s Academy in Hudson.

Jeanette was employed as a bookkeeper by the former Hudson National Bank and later Citizens Bank at their main office on Pope Street for 32 years prior to her retirement. She was most recently working as a crossing guard for the Town of Sudbury at the Loring Elementary School until 2012.

She was a member of the Saint Michael’s Academy Alumni Association and longtime member of Saint Michael’s Parish in Hudson.

Jeanette enjoyed traveling and always looked forward to accompanying her husband Roy on his business trips to such places as Japan and Korea and frequent trips to Canada. She loved vacationing with her family and cherished the many camping trips they took together. She was a loving wife and proud mother who will be greatly missed.

Besides her husband, she is survived by her three children, Keith Mathews and his wife Barbara of Silver Ridge, Maine, Mark Mathews and his wife Deanne of Patten, Maine, and Lisa Chicoine and her husband Jeff of Hudson. She is also survived by her sister, Juliette Morel of Hudson; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Paul and Emil Brooks, Theresa Matthews, and Cecile Miller.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, Dec. 27, at 9 a.m., in Saint Michael’s Church, 21 Manning St., Hudson. Burial will follow in Saint Michael’s Cemetery, Hudson. Family and friends may attend calling hours Friday Dec. 26, from 5-8 p.m., at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, 50 Central St.
