Obit John GreenlawAuburn, Ky. – James “Jim” Arthur Greenlaw, 81, of Auburn, Ky., passed away peacefully Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2014 in Nashville, Tenn., surrounded by his loving family.

Jim leaves his loving wife of 59 years, Renate; his daughter, Debbie Desposito (Mark) of Shrewsbury; their son, James (Diane) of Auburn, Ky.; their son, Chris (Gretchen) of Auburn, Ky.; two grandchildren, Kristen Bartolomeo of Shrewsbury and Amber Greenlaw of Auburn, Ky.; his sister, Elizabeth Desautels of Meza, Ariz.; his sister, Patricia Babbitt of Orange; and many nieces and nephews.

Jim was a loving husband, an amazing father and grandfather, as well as a wonderful friend. He loved to spend time with his family and friends, enjoyed playing pool, listening to the music of the big band era, and taking pictures to capture wonderful moments of life of all that he knew.

He proudly served his country for 24 years. He started with the U.S. Army and retired from the U.S. Air Force. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 9013 in Westborough. He was also involved with the Veterans Agency in Westborough, as well as the Jamaica Plain Hospital where he helped many veterans with financial aid and those with mental and physical injuries.

Jim was a member of Legion Post 173 of Westborough, as well as a Mason (32 Degree) Shriner. He belonged to the United Brethren Lodge A.F. & A.M. in Marlborough.

Jim was an extraordinary man that his family will miss each and every day, but know that he will always be with them in their hearts.

A private memorial was held to celebrate Jim’s life at the Hillvue Heights Church in Bowling Green, Ky. in November.
