Obit-Flag_USE-THIS-ONE4Marlborough – John M. “Jack” Kline Jr. died peacefully Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 7, 2015, surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Dorothea (Horner) Kline to whom he was married for 69 years.

He was born in Philadelphia, Penn., the son of the late John Sr. and Martha (McIntyre) Kline, and lived in Marlborough for 68 years. He graduated from Morsetown High School in Pennsylvania, class of 1941, and then attended the Brown School until joining the military. A veteran of the United States Navy during WWII, he served as a Naval Aviator and Flight Instructor for twin engine aircraft while stationed in Pensacola, Fla.

Jack worked in the family business, Marlborough Transportation, for 25 years and then went to work for Assabet Machine in Hudson for 10 years prior to his retirement. After retirement, he worked part-time for the Adesa car auction in Framingham.

He was a member of the former Marlborough Kiwanis Club for 30 years, was one of the founding members of the Marlborough Youth Baseball Association, and helped to build the current Baldelli Field.

He is also survived by three sons, Jack Kline III of Marlborough, Keith Kline and his wife Cheryl of Marlborough, and Rick Kline and his wife Joyce of New Hampshire; one daughter, Amy McIntyre and her husband Jim of Marlborough; one brother, Eugene Kline of Pennsylvania; one sister, Shirley Nanof of Northborough; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Private family funeral arrangements, under the direction of the William R. Short and Son Funeral Home (www.shortfuneral.com), will be held at a later date.
