Region – Doctors Express, the largest independent urgent care provider in Massachusetts, recently announced a partnership with one of the largest independent cooperative physician groups, the Central Massachusetts Independent Physicians Association (CMIPA). This first-of-its-kind partnership will offer more resources for patients, better communication between providers and patients as well as continuity of care.
Doctors Express and CMIPA plan to launch two new sites in Worcester later this year, operating under parent company, Medvest, LLC.
“Our partnership with CMIPA continues the objective at Medvest to redefine how patient care is delivered,” said Jim Brennan, CEO of Medvest. “We are partnered with Steward Health Care System, the largest fully-integrated community care organization and community hospital network in eastern Massachusetts and now CMIPA, one of the largest physician cooperative groups in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.”
“Bridging the health care gap requires more than affordable and accessible health care coverage, it requires affordable and accessible care,” said the CEO of CMIPA, Gail Sillman. She went on to explain that CMIPA doctors wanted to provide after-hours care rather than relying on the emergency room.
With the help of the consultant, Sillman identified Doctors Express as the most viable option.
“Together we saw the benefits of a true partnership where other urgent care providers did not,” said Sillman. “Doctors Express will honor our patient relationships and extend patient care on nights and weekends for a true, mutually beneficial partnership. Furthermore, Doctors Express has the name brand and market recognition that we were looking for – largely due to the quality of their patient care.”
Doctors Express currently has Massachusetts locations in Braintree, Burlington, Dedham, Malden, Marlborough, Natick, North Andover, Saugus, Springfield, Waltham, Watertown and West Springfield, with several new locations in development.
The Marlborough location is the most recent addition to the Massachusetts-based operations of Doctors Express, which opened Dec. 5 under the leadership of Managing Director Bing Yeo.
