Hudson – On the evening of Friday, Jan. 16, 2015, Mary Monica (Downey) O’Leary passed away peacefully in the presence of her family at Marlborough Hospital. Mary was 79 years old and was the beloved wife of the late Arthur O’Leary, who died in 1986.
Mary was born and raised in Everett, daughter of the late Lawrence and Johanna (Fitzgerald) Downey. She was born Oct. 12, 1935, the oldest of four children. Arthur and Mary moved from Everett to Hudson, where they raised their three beautiful children. She took great pride in the care of her home and always looked forward to spending time with her family.
Mary leaves behind a large loving family, including her brother, Joseph Downey of Hudson; her sister, Marie Elliott, who was married to the late Ralph Elliott of Saugus; and sister-in-law Doris Downey of Hudson and brother-in-law John LaCorcia, husband of Mary’s late sister, Shirley LaCorcia. Mary also leaves her son, Kenneth O’Leary and his wife Marie of Hudson; her son, Glenn O’Leary of Oklahoma; and her daughter, Susan O’Leary of Hudson. She leaves behind four grandchildren, Karen O’Leary Peterson, Maureen O’Leary, Brian O’Leary, and Chelseana O’Leary; one great-grandson and another great-grandchild due in March, along with many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, Jan. 22, at 9 a.m., in Saint Michael’s Church, 21 Manning St., Hudson. Burial will follow in Forestvale Cemetery of Hudson. Family and friends may attend calling hours Wednesday, Jan 21, from 5-8 p.m., at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, 50 Central St., Hudson.
