Shrewsbury- Central One Federal Credit Union employees joined the National Wear Red Day Feb. 6 to show their support for women’s heart disease awareness.
National Wear Red Day is a national awareness campaign for women about heart disease sponsored by the American Heart Association. The organization created and introduced the Red Dress as the national symbol for women and heart disease awareness in 2002. This observance promotes the Red Dress symbol and provides an opportunity for everyone to unite in this life-saving awareness movement by showing off a favorite red dress, shirt, tie, or Red Dress pin.
The bank’s employees donated $15 each toward the cause and will participate in a dress down day for the four Fridays of February at the credit union.
“National Wear Red Day is an excellent movement to reach out to women in our field of membership and help make them aware of personal risk factors for heart disease,” said David L’Ecuyer, president/CEO of Central One Federal Credit Union. “I am very proud of the staff for raising $1,000 for the American Heart Association, and hope it helps in educating the public.”
