Obit Jean GogonisNorthborough – Jean Marie (Barlow) Gogonis passed away peacefully Saturday, Feb, 21, 2015 at Rose Monahan Hospice in Worcester. Jean battled many years with M.S. and lung cancer since October. She was 51.

She leaves her devoted husband of 26 years, Steven Gogonis, and her loving son, Evan Gogonis of Northborough. Jean also leaves her father, Kevin Barlow and his wife Susan of Warren, N.H.; her siblings, Brendan Barlow of Rumney, N.H., Raymond Barlow and his wife Edith of Plymouth, N.H., and Elizabeth and her husband Wes of Hallowell, Maine; her sister-in-law, Connie Gogonis of Worcester; and two nieces, two nephews, and many cousins. Jean was predeceased by her brother, Kevin Barlow.

Born in Plymouth, N.H. and raised in Holderness, she was the daughter of the late Ann (Hoover) Barlow. She graduated from Plymouth High School and Plymouth State College in 1986. She worked at Bank of N. E. from 1986-1991.

In her early years, she loved skiing the mountains of New Hampshire, especially Cannon Mountain.

Jean was a proud “hockey mom” who spend numerous hours at the N.E. Sports Center supporting her son, Evan. she was an avid gardener.

Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours Thursday, Feb. 26, from 5-8 p.m., in Hays Funeral Home, 56 Main St., Northborough. Her funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, Feb. 27, at 11 a.m., in St. Rose of Lima Church, 244 West Main St., Northborough. Interment will follow in Howard Street Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Jean’s name may be made to the UMass Memorial Cancer Center at Marlborough Hospital, 157 Union St., Marlborough, MA 01752.
