Metrowest Princess Boutique seeks gown donations for prom-goers

Marlborough – In partnership with the Marlborough Junior Women’s Club, Marlborough High School (MHS), 431 Bolton St., will host this year’s Metrowest Princess Boutique from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 7.

The annual boutique helps qualified girls attend the prom by easing the financial burden for them and their families. All items – dresses, shoes, make-up and accessories – are donated to the event and are free to boutique shoppers. Participating schools pre-qualify girls who are eligible to shop at the boutique.

Participants will have the help of a personal shopper to help select gowns, shoes and accessories, and make-up artists and seamstresses will be available to help create the perfect ensemble for prom or senior reception. Hundreds of new gowns will be available, as well as fashionable gently worn gowns and accessories that are donated to the boutique.

“We are reaching out to our recent graduates and asking them to ‘pay it forward’ by donating gently used prom dresses and accessories,” said MHS Guidance Counselor Sharon Buckley. “Anyone interested in making a donation may drop them off at MHS’s main office to my attention.”

Gowns and accessories should be up-to-date and should appeal to high school girls. Other items needed for the event have been posted on the boutique’s website, http://www.mwprincessboutique.com. Supporters can easily shop on the boutique’s Amazon wish list linked to the website, or they can use the Amazon wish list as a guideline for donations. Volunteers who want to donate their time that day to help with the boutique can sign up on the boutique’s website as well, as can participants who would like an appointment with a personal shopper.

Donated items can be dropped off at MHS during school hours or at Serendipity, 63B Main St., Hudson. Donations are requested as soon as possible so boutique organizers can plan accordingly.
