Hudson – Humberto M. Borges, 60, of Hudson, died Friday, Feb. 27, 2015. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Filomena M. (Chaves) Borges of Hudson.

Humberto was born and raised in Santa Maria, the Azores of Portugal, son of the late Jose R. and Maria (Esmeralda) Borges. He emigrated from Portugal to the United States in 1980 and had resided in Hudson for the past 34 years. He was a member of Saint Michael’s Parish in Hudson.

Humberto was currently employed as a machinist by the Supercon Co. of Shrewsbury. He traveled extensively to both play and referee soccer events. He had many talents and was always assisting his family and friends in a wide variety of projects. He enjoyed fishing in his spare time and was fond of Portuguese cheese and breads. He will be greatly missed.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his son, Hugo C. Borges and his fiancée Heather Franklin of Hudson. He is also survived by his sister, Goreti Morgado of Santa Maria; his two brothers Paulinho and Jose H. Borges, both of Hudson; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, March 3, at 9 a.m., in Saint Michael’s Church, 21 Manning St., Hudson. Burial will follow in Saint Michael’s Cemetery, Hudson. Family and friends may attend calling hours Monday, March 2, from 5-8 p.m., at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, 50 Central St., Hudson.
