Marlborough – Marilyn L. (Nickerson) Hogan, 83, died peacefully Thursday, March 5, 2015, surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late Ralph L. Hogan, who died in 1979. They were married for 16 years.
She was born in Corinna, Maine, the daughter of the late Elwood and Inez (Pratt) Nickerson, and moved to Marlborough in 1963. She attended Corinna schools and went on to graduate from Corinna Union Academy and worked as a quality control inspector for the former Digital Corp. in Maynard for many years.
Marilyn was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Marlborough. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed cooking and playing the guitar.
She is survived by two sons, Flinton Bachelder of Maine and Ralph Hogan Jr. and his wife Candice of Northborough; five daughters, Pamela Pearson and her husband Carl of Naples, Maine, Carla Devine and her husband John of Marlborough, Debora Woods of Framingham, Janet Wilcox and her husband Kevin of Northborough, and Margaret Hogan of Marlborough; a daughter-in-law, Marie Bachelder, of Lee; two sisters, Cleona DeCrow of Skowheagan, Maine and Marie Gallison and her husband “Bill” of Corinna, Maine; a sister-in-law, Eileen Nickerson of St. Albens, Maine; 15 grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Emery Bachelder Jr.; a son-in-law, Gregory Woods; three brothers, Earl, James, and Wesley Nickerson; and two sisters, Virginia Fillmore and Louise Seale.
Her funeral will be held Thursday, March 12, at 11:15 a.m., in the First Baptist Church of Marlborough, 22 Mechanic St. Burial will follow in Edgell Grove Cemetery in Framingham. Visiting hours are Thursday, from 10-11 a.m., at the William R. Short and Son Funeral Home (www.shortfuneral.com), 95 West Main St., Marlborough.
