Shrewsbury – The Board of Selectmen discussed the draft warrant for the May 18 Town Meeting at its March 10 meeting.
The warrant has 36 articles thus far. The biggest number of articles – seven – involve water and sewer management. Noted Town Manager Daniel Morgado, “Water issues are among Shrewsbury’s top ongoing concerns.” The articles involve the stormwater management bylaw, transfer of funds to water management issues, money for water meter replacement, water main improvements, and wetlands restoration.
The next largest number of articles – six – relate to zoning. These include a change to the use regulation schedule, inclusionary housing definitions, development regulations for the Lakeway overlay district, site plan approval, the land use regulation schedule, dimensional tables, and farmers’ market regulations.
Town employee compensation, payment of debts, cemetery improvements, transfer of bond funds, and counseling and education each account for two articles. The remaining articles account for one each regarding receiving reports, trash disposal, the capital budget, acceptance of streets, town retiree benefits, conservation, and taxes.
