Obit-Flag_USE-THIS-ONE4Westborough – James C. Guimond, 69, of Westborough, passed away peacefully at home Monday, March 30, 2015, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Andrea E. “Jill” (Calkin) Guimond.

Born in Weymouth, he was the son of the late Earl and Georgie (Peterson) Guimond. He was a graduate of Braintree High School in 1963 where he was co-captain of the Braintree High School Baseball Team. He also graduated from Acadia University in Nova Scotia where he was the captain of the football team for two years and was inducted into the Acadia Sports Hall of Fame, All Decade Team as a left tackle. In later years, he received his MBA from Nichols College.

During the Vietnam era, he served with the U.S. Army, attaining the rank of First Lieutenant. Following his time served with the Army in Thailand, he became employed as a sales manager for Union Transfer and Storage Co. in Bangkok.

Back home, Jim was employed as a logistics manager for Data General in Westborough, American Power Conversion in Rhode Island, and MAST Industries in Andover prior to his retirement.

Jim was a communicant of St. Luke the Evangelist Church and a former coach for the Red Devils and Little League. He also was an amateur photographer and enjoyed traveling.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, James Arthur Guimond and his wife Elizabeth of Stuttgart, Germany and Jacqui Lynn Guimond-Strong and her husband Jonathan of Las Vegas, Nev.; and a cousin, James T. Moodie of Medford, and the extended Moodie family.

A Liturgy of the Word will be held Friday, April 3 at 10 a.m., in St. Luke the Evangelist Church, 70 West Main St., Westborough. Burial, with military honors, will be held next week in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. Calling hours at the Rand-Harper-Pickering Westborough Funeral Home, 62 West Main St., Westborough, are Thursday, April 2, from 5-8 p.m.
