Obit Peter FlaniganNorthborough – Peter James Flanigan, 59, son of the late John Joseph Flanigan and the late Marie (Tacconi) Flanigan, passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at UMass Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.

He was born June 11, 1955 in Framingham, and was educated locally in the Northborough School System, graduating from Assabet Valley Vocational High School. He later attended the University of Massachusetts, Stockbridge.

He held many positions in the home building industry, and was currently employed by Home Depot of Shrewsbury.

He was a devoted family member caring for his parents and sharing his love of his sisters’ and brothers’ families and friends. His hobbies included camping, hiking, canoeing, skiing, fishing, gardening, and listening to music. He was a big fan of NRBQ, Angel Band and PB & J. He loved outdoor walks with his loyal pet, Zappy.

He will be greatly missed by his five siblings and their spouses, Kathy and Bill Ford of Medfield, Renie and Bruce Martin of South Berwick, Maine, Jay and Linda Flanigan of Northborough, Robert and Sharon Flanigan of N. Brookfield, and Richard and Lynne Flanigan of Pepperell, and his 14 nieces and nephews and their spouses, 21 grandnieces and grandnephews, and two sets of aunts and uncles, Ann and Jerry Hazard, and Tom and Pudgy Flanigan, as well as Emily Tacconi and Bruno Ragaini. Peter leaves many beloved cousins and family members.

He will be missed by all his friends, neighbors, and work colleagues. He leaves a legacy of love, loyalty, and selflessness. The world has been blessed by his life.

In celebrating Peter’s life, calling hours will be held Tuesday, April 14, from 5-8 p.m., at the Hays Funeral Home, 56 Main St., Northborough. A private family burial is planned for a later date.
