Westborough – Pastor Paul Sangree, Mike Lawler and Art Sharkey of the Westborough Congregational Church recently returned from spending a week in Haiti working with Heartline Ministries. Heartline’s mission is to establish training programs and businesses that enable Haitians to earn a livable income. It was Pastor Sangree’s first visit while Sharkey and Lawler have had previous trips. The group brought donations of supplies for Heartline’s women’s center, maternity center, bakery and guest house. During the week, they visited and worked at three orphanages, a juvenile detention center, a grade school where Sharkey and Lawler met students they are sponsoring, distributed food for the Feed the Hunger organization and worshipped at a rural church near the mountains. They were also able to visit the Baptist Haiti Mission in Kenscoff and the Haiti Olympic Park in northern Port-au-Prince that was built through donations from the International Olympic Committee. Their next trip is planned for early 2016.
