Clinton: Byzantium to Russia exhibit at Museum of Russian Icons

Clinton – Byzantium to Russia: Origins and Development of Russian Icons, 1200 to 1900, featuring 48 icons and artifacts from the renowned British Museum, will be on view Saturday, May 2 through Saturday, Sept. 12 at the Museum of Russian Icons. The opening event takes place from 4-7 p.m., with beverages and hors d’oeuvres from 4-6 p.m. At 6 p.m., museum founder Gordon Lankton and curator Kent Russell will speak. Admission to the opening event is free for members and $20 for nonmembers. RSVP by calling 978-598-5000 ext. 21.

The exceptional, compelling selection of icons and artifacts traces the stylistic development of sacred art from ancient Byzantium, center of Christian civilization, to the introduction of Christianity to Russia. The exhibition of rare icons will also include Byzantine cast metal objects, ivories and engraved gems.

Admission to the museum is $10 for adults, $7 for seniors age 59 and up, $5 for students and children ages 3-17, and free for children under age 3 and museum members.
