Hudson – Filomena S. (Chaves) Braga, 96, of Hudson, died Monday, April 20, 2015, surrounded by her loving family, at her residence. She was the beloved wife of the late Jose Braga, who died in 2001.

Filomena was born and raised in Santa Maria, the Azores of Portugal. She immigrated to Hudson from Santa Maria in 1968 and was a longtime employee of the Hudson Lock Company until her retirement. She was a member of Saint Michael’s Parish in Hudson.

Filomena enjoyed spending time with her family, especially with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She always cherished the special moments and playing games with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved to cook and bake and share her special treats with family and friends, especially during the holidays. She will be greatly missed by all.

She is survived by her children, Antonio E. Braga and his wife Maria R. of Hudson, Jose E. Braga and his wife Maria O. of Hudson, Manuel D. Braga and his wife Maria I. of Hudson, Elvira M. Pavao and her husband Aires of Berlin, and Victor M. Braga and his wife Emily of Hudson. She is also survived by her two brothers, Jose E. Chaves of Hudson and Antonio A. Chaves of Hudson; her sister, Maria L. Tavares of Canada; her 16 loving grandchildren; and six adoring great-grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, April 22, at 9 a.m., in Saint Michael’s Church, 21 Manning St., Hudson. Burial will follow in Saint Michael’s Cemetery, Hudson. Calling hours will be held Tuesday, April 21, from 5-8 p.m., at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, 50 Central St., Hudson.
