Shrewsbury – Pelagia M. (Taczala) Michalak, 87, of Shrewsbury, died Saturday, April 25, 2015 in Saint Mary’s Healthcare Center in Worcester after an illness. Her beloved husband, John J. Michalak, died in 1994.
She leaves three daughters, Teresa D. Hebert of Spencer, Christine A. Wills of Shrewsbury, and Mary S. Paradise of Worcester; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson and one on the way.
She was born in Bergfeld, Germany, daughter of the late Piotr and Agatha (Gabor) Taczala. Pelagia met and married John J. Michalak in England, and in 1955 came to the United States.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Pelagia’s family Tuesday, April 28, from 9:30-10:30 a.m., in the Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main St., Shrewsbury. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. in Saint Anne’s Church, 130 Boston Tpke., Shrewsbury. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury.
