Shrewsbury – The “Let’s Develop It” computer programming club for teens aged 16 and up and adults will meet Saturdays, June 13 , June 27, July 18, July 25, Aug. 8, and Aug. 22, from 2-4 p.m., at the Shrewsbury Public Library, 214 Lake St.

The multi-part course on computer programming, taught by Kiran Adapa, is recommended for people who are comfortable with computers and programs/apps like MS Excel and MS Access, and know how websites work. If you want to develop the skills needed to program with computers for your career, school or future work then this course will get you started on that journey.

The course is composed of instructional lectures followed by exercises and group discussion. Participants will learn about both the programming and the tools that will be used to start coding/programming. Some of the areas that will be covered include theory behind programming and computational thinking, instruction and exercises in Python programming language, relational database concepts, MySql and SQL queries, web development concepts using HTML & CSS, dynamic web applications with Python, and working with both the Windows and Linux operating systems.

After the course, club members will be able to continue self-learning or attend meet-ups or take online courses to further their programming knowledge. The computer club will also benefit individuals with the common goal to get together and discuss their learning and apply it to their respective career or educational areas.

Registration is required as there are limited spots. Go to the calendar link on the library website at www.shrewsbury-ma.gov/department/division.php?fDD=17-47 and select the date of the first class to sign up, or call 508-841-4076.
