Northborough – Fifth-grade Girl Scout Troop 30057 of Northborough earned a bronze award for their project “Helping Homeless Families.” The bronze award is the highest award a Junior Girl Scout can earn. The girls held donation drives for books, games, dress up costumes, arts & crafts supplies, toiletries, and summer fun items at schools, churches and the town library. The girls took 26 bags of donation items to the IHN House, a shelter for homeless families in Worcester. On two occasions they entertained and played with the preschool children living at the IHN House. They also helped the families in transition (FIT) living in the Northborough motels, by donating five boxes of needed items and cooking 12 meals. The girls made treats and held a bake sale to buy groceries for the meals they provided.
