Obit Tyrone A. BlackMarlborough – Tyrone A. Black, 54, of Marlborough, died Friday, June 5, 2015 at Marlborough Hospital.

Born in Boston, he was the son of Clementine (Haynes) Black of Marlborough and the late James K. Black. Shortly after graduating from Marlborough High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served proudly for eight years before being honorably discharged.

Tyrone had been employed as an electrical technician for Decision One in Northborough until he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. He had previously been employed at Raytheon Corporation.

He played hockey for Marlborough Youth Hockey from the age of seven to fifteen and loved to golf and fish. As a longtime member of the Marlborough Eagles, he served as an officer and managed fund raising activities for the organization.

Besides his mother, who cared for him tirelessly during his illness, he is survived by his former wife, Brenda Zeek of Indianapolis; his son, Adam Black and his wife Claudia of Indianapolis; his brother, Karl Benjamin Black of Easton, Md.; his sister, Constance Pettijohn and her husband Kevin of Marlborough; his grandchildren, Akira and Oliver Black, and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and many friends and acquaintances.

Visiting hours will be held Sunday, June 14, from 2-5 p.m., at the Slattery Funeral Home, 40 Pleasant St., Marlborough. On Monday, June 15, an hour of visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. at the Myrtle Baptist Church, 21 Curve St., W. Newton, followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. at the church. Burial, with military honors, will be held Tuesday, June 16, at 11 a.m., at Evergreen Cemetery, Wilson Street, Marlborough.
