Worcester – The number 1 seed Shrewsbury High School Pioneers baseball team was defeated by the number 6 seed St. Peter-Marian High School Guardians by a score of 15-4 in the MIAA Central Division 1 finals. The game was played at Hanover Insurance Park at Fitton Field on June 13.
The Guardians scored five runs in the first inning and three more in the second to jump out to an early lead that the Pioneers were not able to overcome. All four of the Pioneers runs were scored during a fourth inning rally.
Shrewsbury concludes their season with a 16-7 record while St. Peter-Marian moves on to play Springfield Central in the State Division 1 semifinals on June 16.
