Hudson – Maria O. Pacheco, 90, of Hudson, died Friday, June 12, 2015 at Marlborough Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She was predeceased by her first husband, Manuel F. Costa, and second husband, Antonio Vidal.
Maria was born in Sao Miguel, the Azores of Portugal, daughter of the late Manuel Pacheco and Maria G. (Medeiros). She resided in Sao Miguel for many years before immigrating to Hudson in 1980.
She took great pride in the care of her home and raising her family, especially later caring for her loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her one great-great-grandchild.
Maria had many interests and hobbies in her life, but truly enjoyed sewing and knitting in her spare time. She enjoyed cooking and preparing many dishes to share with the family at special occasions and the holidays. She always looked forward to her yearly trips back to Sao Miguel to spend the summer months. Most of all, she truly cherished being with her family. She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her daughter, Zeneria Araujo and her husband Eduardo of Hudson; four grandchildren, Grace Resendes and her husband Jose of Hudson, Oscar Araujo and his wife Sandra of Hudson, Ana Andrade of Hudson, and Elizabeth Melo and her husband Helder of Portugal; her 13 loving great-grandchildren; and her adoring great-great-grandchild.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, June 16, at 9 a.m., in Saint Michael’s Church, 21 Manning St., Hudson. Burial will follow in Saint Michael’s Cemetery, Hudson. Calling hours will be held Monday, June 15, from 5-8 p.m., at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, 50 Central Street, Hudson.
