Obit Carol HarringtonNorthborough – Carol M. (Zande) Harrington, 77, passed away peacefully Monday, June 15, 2015, surrounded by her loving family, at Coleman House of Northborough.

She leaves her husband of 54 years, John C. Harrington, and her six children, Denise Staubach and her husband Peter of Newton, Catherine Naughton and her husband Joseph of Natick, Michael Harrington and his wife Karen of Franklin, Wis., John Harrington and Shelley Saunders of Portsmouth, N.H., Joan Provencal and her husband Anthony of Southborough, and James Harrington and his wife Ashley of Wilmette, Ill. She was predeceased by her son, Timothy Harrington, who died in 1974. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren; two brothers, Arthur Zande and his wife Nancy of New Jersey and John Zande and his wife Elizabeth of Delaware; and many nieces and nephews.

Born in Jersey City, N.J., she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Catherine (Callahan) Zande. She graduated from the College of St. Elizabeth in Convent Station, N.J. in 1959, earning her B.A. in Sociology. She lived in Northborough for the past 47 years, and worked as Outreach Coordinator for the Northborough Senior Center for many years.

An active member of St. Rose of Lima Parish, Carol served in many liturgical ministries and as a cantor and choir member. She will be remembered for her devotion to her children, her love of music, and her beautiful voice.

Calling hours will be held Friday, June 19, from 5-8 p.m., in Hays Funeral Home, 56 Main St., Northborough. Carol’s funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, June 20, at 10 a.m., at St. Rose of Lima Church, 244 West Main St., Northborough. Burial will follow in the family plot in Howard Street Cemetery.
