Tips for beach safety

Marlborough – The beaches are open and beach goers are enjoying the sand, swimming and picnicking. Just remember to pick up trash from the beach to prevent the water from being polluted. Other types of pollutants comes from run-off from lawns that have been treated with fertilizer or pesticides, and animal waste to name a few. Don’t forget about disease causing microorganisms that you cannot see. Public and semi-public beaches are tested weekly for microorganisms, but if you see a closed sign at a beach be sure not to swim in the water until the beach is open again.
