Obit Kenneth J. DalessioDeland, Fla. – Kenneth J. Dalessio, 58, formerly of Marlborough, died Sunday, July 19, 2015 at Florida Hospital Deland, Deland, Fla.

Born and raised in Marlborough, he was the son of the late Doris J. (Flagg) Dalessio Thorpe and Robert J. Dalessio and his wife Janet (Sullivan) Dalessio of Hudson. He was a graduate of Marlborough High School.

Following his graduation from the former Brom’s Hairdressing Academy in Worcester, he worked as a stylist for several local salons, including Maryann’s, before becoming co-owner of New Horizons One and New Horizons Two in Marlborough.

A talented stylist, he taught at professional seminars, produced several instructional videos, and showed his creativity as a platform artist.

After moving to Florida in the early 1990s, he successfully continued in the profession that he loved so much.

As an animal lover and a people person, he was very kind and thoughtful and someone who always had a smile and a kind word for everyone he met. He loved to chat and created a social experience out of a simple trip to the bank! …which is why he enjoyed many friendships in both Marlborough and Florida.

Besides his parents, he is survived by his brother, Michael Dalessio and his wife Jaime of Tilton, N.H.; three nephews; many cousins; and close and caring friends.

Visiting hours will be held Friday, July 31, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 12 p.m. at the Slattery Funeral Home, 40 Pleasant St., Marlborough. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Wilson Street, Marlborough.

Donations may be made to the Northeast Animal Shelter, 347 Highland Ave., Salem, MA 01970 or to a local charity of the donor’s choice.
