Obit Helen RatkiewiczGrafton – Helen Ratkiewicz, 98, passed peacefully Saturday, Aug. 1, 2015 at Beaumont Rehabilitation & Nursing in Northbridge.

Miss Ratkiewicz was born in Grafton April 24, 1917, the daughter of the late Kazimierz and Elizabeth (Branowicka) Ratkiewicz, and was a lifelong resident.

She is survived by her sister, Bertha McMahon of McClean, Va.; her brother, Albert Ratkiewicz of Grafton; 10 nieces and nephews, Kenneth Ratkiewicz and his wife Eileen, Susan Daisy and her husband Paul, Helen McMahon, Elizabeth Straub and her husband Joseph, Joseph McMahon Jr. and his wife Cynthia, James McMahon and his wife Dale, John McMahon and his wife Susan, Jean McMahon and her husband Dave, Petricia Reese and her husband David, Steven McMahon; and 14 grandnieces and nephews.

Helen worked as a seamstress for many years at the former Wuskanut Mills in South Grafton and at the former Grafton State Hospital. She was a graduate of David Hale Fanning Vocational High School in Worcester, was a lifelong parishioner of St. James Church, The Daughters of Isabella and The Polish National Home all in South Grafton.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated for Helen Saturday, Aug. 8, at 10 a.m., at St. James Church, 89 Main St. (Route 122A), South Grafton. She will then be laid to rest with family at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Whitinsville. There will be a calling hour Saturday, Aug. 8, from 8:30-9:30 a.m., at the Roney Funeral Home, 152 Worcester St., North Grafton, before leaving in procession to St. James Church.
