Obit Richard DrapeauShrewsbury – Richard E. Drapeau, of Shrewsbury Crossings, passed away Monday, Aug. 10, 2015 at UMass Memorial Healthcare (University Campus). He was 89. His wife, Barbara I. (Magyar) Drapeau, died in 2008.

He leaves behind his sons, Stephen Drapeau and his wife Donna of Webster; Randy Drapeau and his wife Linda of West Boylston; and his daughter, Christine Rybacki and her husband Larry of Shrewsbury. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, his great-grandchildren, two nieces and two nephews. He was predeceased by sisters Patricia and Ann.

Born and raised in Concord, N.H., he was the son of Ernest and Gertrude (Smyth) Drapeau. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater. He lived in the Birchwood community of Northborough before to Shrewsbury three years ago.

Richard worked for Honeywell Corp. as a computer technician for 20 years and retired in the 1980s.

Music was his passion, and he enjoyed crossword puzzles. He truly loved his Shrewsbury Crossing community. The staff and his friends there made it a special place to live.

His funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, Aug. 17, at 10 a.m., in St. Bernadette Church, 266 Main St., Northborough. There are no calling hours. Burial with military honors will follow in Howard Street Cemetery.
