Clinton – Bette Lou (Grimes) Madison, 80, of Clinton and formerly a longtime resident of Southborough, died Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2015 at the Reservoir of Marlborough after long illness. She was the beloved wife of Joseph J. Madison for 60 years.

Bette Lou was a devoted wife and mother, who raised her children before she went back to school to become a dental assistant and lab tech. She worked for several years as a lab tech for a bio-tech company. Hiking, gardening, and the beach were a few of the things she enjoyed most about being outdoors.

Bette Lou was an active member of St Anne Church of Southborough, where she served on the Parish Council and participated in the Bible Study Group.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Craig Madison of Marlborough, Susanne Madison of Clinton, and Meredith Madison of Lancaster; a son-in-law, David Jeffries of Swansea; a sister, Carol Allen of Mill Valley, Calif.; and three grandchildren, Christopher Jeffries and Benjamin and Zachary Sousa. She was predeceased by her daughter, Kimberly Jeffries.

Visiting hours will be held Friday, Aug. 21, from 4-7 p.m., at the Morris Funeral Home, 40 Main St., Southborough. A funeral Mass will be held Saturday, Aug. 22, at 10 a.m., at St Anne Church, 20 Boston Rd., Southborough. Burial will follow in the Southborough Rural Cemetery.
