Shrewsbury – Through the generous partnership of the Shrewsbury Garden Club, the Shrewsbury Public Library has created of a collection of garden tools for community members to check out.

Shrewsbury residents aged 18 or older with library accounts in good standing may check out up to six tools at a time, for a period of one week. Sixteen different lawn and garden tools are available, including hoes, shears and loppers, a lawn edger, a bulb planter, a pick and a posthole digger.

Library staff are excited to support and empower community members through this new collection. Through shared ownership of information and other resources, the public library strives to increase access to opportunities for all of its patrons, regardless of financial status. In conjunction with the Shrewsbury Seed Library, another initiative supported by the Shrewsbury Garden Club, this collection will allow Shrewsbury residents to plant and maintain a garden with no monetary investment.

The library plans to expand its collection of tools in the future. To view a full list of tools available, visit the library’s website at www.shrewsbury-ma.gov/library/.
