Obit Lowell J. HolsombackNorthborough – Lowell J. Holsomback, 80, passed away peacefully after a brief illness Friday, Aug. 28, 2015 at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester.

He leaves behind his loving wife of 51 years, Catherine M. (Soter) Holsomback; his daughters, Michele Matthews and her husband Edmoth of Sterling and Susan Huckins and her husband John of N. Billerica; his mother, Lucille (Hendrix) MacDonald of Northborough; three grandchildren, Kyle, Daniel, and Erin, all of N. Billerica; his sister-in-law, Mary Mahan of Plattsburg, N.Y.; his sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Ronald Cox of Westborough; and many nieces and nephews.

Born in Rome, Ga., son of the late Charles MacDonald, he lived in Georgia and Maine during his childhood years. He lived in Westborough for 14 years before settling in Northborough in 1978. He served in the U.S. Army and the MA National Guard.

Years ago, Lowell was employed at Roxbury Carpet Co. in Saxonville for 17 years. He went on to work the next 27 years in the Westborough Public School System as a maintenance technician, retiring in 2001.

His hobbies included fishing, hunting, and most importantly, spending time with his family. He was known as a “jack of all trades” who worked with precision on every task and project he took on. He also took great pride maintaining his manicured yard. He was an avid Red Sox fan.

Calling hours will be held Tuesday, Sept. 1, rom 4-7 p.m., in Hays Funeral Home, 56 Main St., Northborough. His funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, Sept. 2, at 10 a.m., in St. Rose of Lima Church, 244 W. Main St., Northborough. Burial will follow in Howard Street Cemetery.
