Marlborough – A public hearing to discuss the application for a special permit to operate a Taco Bell restaurant and drive-through facility at 773 Boston Post Road East drew questions from residents at the Aug. 24 City Council meeting. Most concern was over traffic, delivery hours and general noise factors.
Dave O’Neil of 24 Arcadia Circle asked about the incoming delivery schedule, trash pickup and the speaker system – all, he said, would contribute to a noisy environment. Rich Holland of 666 Brigham Street spoke in favor of the proposal, stating: “It would be a nice addition to other restaurants in the city.”
Ward 1 City Councilor Joseph Delano, chair of the Urban Affairs Committee, said a thorough study of the concerns will be addressed when Charter Foods North consultants appear before the committee in the near future.
“We will look into signage, the general appearance and landscaping as well as addressing concerns brought up during the public hearing,” he said.
In presenting the application from Charter Foods North to the city in July, Attorney David Gadbois said the building was constructed as a restaurant with a drive through. The use was abandoned several years ago and it was necessary to obtain a permit for a drive through, he stated.
