Westborough – A ceremony will be held Friday, Sept. 11, at 3 p.m. in front of the Forbes Memorial Building (FMB), 45 West Main St. , to commemorate the 14th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.
The event is being organized by Westborough High School freshman Abigail McLucas as part of her involvement with Project 351, an initiative that selects student ambassadors from each community across the state who works towards the goal of implementing positive changes in their community.
“Abby and her peers were, for the most part, born in 2001, and I am humbled by their interest in keeping the memory of 9/11 alive,” said Brent French, the chair of the town’s veterans’ advisory board.
The ceremony will be held in front of the Desert Storm, Enduring Freedom, and Iraqi Freedom Memorial located in front of the FMB. It will start at 3 p.m. and be held rain or shine.
The program includes a wreath laying, honoring veterans, firefighters, and police officers (all three groups will be present) plus comments and reflections offered by several community leaders.
