Helen M. Randall, 92, of Marlborough

55

Obit Helen RandallMarlborough – Helen M. (Dowd) Randall, 92, of Marlborough, died Sunday, Sept. 13, 2015.

She was born and raised on the family dairy farm in Richmond, Vt. to the late Patrick J. and Gladys (Bradley) Dowd. She and her late husband, Albert S. Randall, who died in 1994, worked and maintained the Fay Family Farm in Richmond while raising their children. They moved to Marlborough in 1957.

Helen had been employed at Marlborough Hospital as the supervisor of the housekeeping department, as well as a seamstress, until her retirement in 1988.

Helen had a strong work ethic from her life on the farm, a generous nature, a humble attitude, and a very kind spirit. She fussed over her children and doted on her grandchildren, and spent her quiet time bird watching, knitting, crocheting and rug hooking.

Helen enjoyed long heartfelt phone conversations with her sister, Alice. Later in life, she became an avid Red Sox fan.

She is survived by her sons, Gerald F. Randall and his wife Cynthia of Chesterfield and Ronald C. Randall and his wife Christine of Marlborough; her daughter, Paula A. Murphy and her husband Thomas of Marlborough; her sister, Alice Sandwell and her sister-in-law, Blanche Dowd both of Richmond, Vt.; her grandchildren, Kevin and Brendan Randall, Heather Pellerin, and Gary Oram; and her great-grandsons, Elric Murphy, Ivan Printz, and Benjamin Oram. She was also the mother of the late Janice A. Randall and the sister of the late Leon Dowd. She also leaves behind the many new friends she made and the past friends she reconnected with while enjoying several years of residence at Christopher Heights in Marlborough.

Funeral services were private and under the direction of the Slattery Funeral Home of Marlborough.

Donations in her memory may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, MA/RI Chapter, 220 N Main St., Suite 104, Natick, MA 01760.
