Obit Marie AndersonShrewsbury – Marie Abbott Anderson, a resident of Shrewsbury Crossings, died Friday, Sept. 25, 2015. She was 98.

Born July 14, 1917 to Michael Francis and Sarah Abbott, and was raised in Pittsburgh, Penn. After graduating from Perry High School, she worked as the bookkeeper at her father’s automobile dealership.

Marie, an award winning equestrienne, met her husband of 64 years, Dr. Robert (Bob) Love Anderson, at a horse show. They were married Sept. 21, 1942. As a war bride, Marie followed Bob to multiple military postings. After Bob’s tour of duty, they settled in Pittsburgh with their daughter Sarah.

To be closer to Sarah’s family, Marie and Bob moved to Northborough in 1984, then later resided in Shrewsbury. When Bob passed June 22, 2008, Marie relocated to Shrewsbury Crossings.

Marie and Bob enjoyed volunteering and traveling. They were longtime members of the St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Westborough. She was an accomplished weaver and embroiderer, and a member of the Weavers Guild.

Affectionately known as “Grammy,” Marie especially loved children and her family.

She is survived by her daughter, Sarah A. Lividini, and son-in-law Joseph of Shrewsbury; her two granddaughters, Lisa Marie Sandoval, and her husband Aaron of Shrewsbury and Victoria Love Cope and her husband Brian of Irvine, Calif.; and seven great-grandchildren, Aitana, Mercedes, Paolo, Valentin, Gian, Isabella, and Elissa Marie.

Family and friends will celebrate Marie’s life by gathering for a calling hour Saturday, Oct. 10, from 3-4 p.m., at Heald & Chiampa Funeral Directors ~ The Sumner House, 5 Church Road, On the Common, Shrewsbury Center, immediately followed by a funeral service.
