Marlborough – Marlborough Public Schools and the Marlborough Public Library has announced its program “Marlborough Reads: One City, One Book,” a grant-funded project designed to bring diverse populations and cultures together in book-related activities that not only encourage literacy and the love of reading but also expose the Marlborough community to its many resources.

Beginning the week of Oct. 6, copies of “Hoot” by Carl Hiassen will be available at schools, the library, senior center, and other places throughout the city so all of Marlborough can pick up a copy, read it, and return it or pass it on – at no cost. Additionally, copies will be handed out at the rescheduled Heritage Festival Sunday, Oct. 25, at the Marlborough Reads booth along with a live owl presentation.

Other free activities include book discussions (dates and times to be announced) and a live owl presentation and distribution of books and scavenger hunt information Saturday, Oct. 17, at 1 p.m. at Marlborough High School (MHS), 431 Bolton St.

The finale event will take place Saturday, Nov. 14, at MHS with a showing of the movie “Hoot,” activities and prizes.

The program is sponsored by the Marlborough Brigham Family Trust. Visit http://bit.ly/marlboroughreads for updates.
